One section of this site contains altered versions of films the studios never released.

7MMTV streams a very large JAV catalogue, publishing counts by section — over a hundred and sixty thousand censored titles, a genre index, and a section of nearly a hundred thousand releases described as mosaic-reduced. That last category is the one that deserves explaining.

Japanese law requires genital areas in domestically produced adult video to be obscured, and every studio release complies. Mosaic reduction is software applied afterwards by third parties, reconstructing what was hidden. The result is not an uncensored master that escaped the studio; it is a machine's guess at what the mosaic covered, distributed as though it were the real thing.

What that means for the people in the films is straightforward. They performed under a legal framework guaranteeing that certain footage would never be visible, and a tool has been pointed at the released version to undo that guarantee. Nobody involved in the production agreed to the version being distributed here.

The site is free and multilingual across four languages, and nothing on it indicates any arrangement with the studios whose releases it carries.
