Dua Lipa Review

Dua Lipa is currently one of the most popular and talked-about musicians in the world, and while not that many people knew of her prior to 2020, it’s safe to say that the 2020s are all hers. Dua released her first studio album in 2017, but it took some traction for her to really get going and become as famous as she is today. I mean nowadays she’s all the rage, as millions of guys and gals worldwide simp for her.

That being said, it definitely took her a few years of consistent music output to get to this level of global superstardom, despite the fact that she’s been on the scene since 2017. And no, when I mentioned that millions of people around the world simp for her, I wasn’t exaggerating - Dua’s got scores of devoted fans, many of whom love her as much as they love her music. I mean just take a look at her, she’s a total stunner, a certified diva, and an absolute brunette bombshell, so it’s no surprise that there are literally millions of guys and gals (but mostly guys) out there who go “awooooga” and start to bang the table and hit themselves in the head with a comically large hammer just from the sight of Dua alone. She’s that gorgeous, and today, you’ll learn everything there is to know about this Albanian queen.

Over time, her YouTube channel became a platform for showcasing her talent and building a dedicated fan base, setting the stage for her later success in the music industry. While she may not have been a global sensation at age 14, her early YouTube presence laid the foundation for her eventual rise to international stardom as a recording artist.

That said, by the time Dua released her first official studio album, she was more than ready to take on everything that fame brings with it, and to this day, she’s one of the most consistently successful famous celebrities on the globe - she’s pretty much everywhere at this point, releasing hit after hit, or appearing in high profile music collaborations, so it’s safe to say that she came a very long way from her early YouTube days - heck, at this point she came a very long way since her self-titled 2017 studio album debut.

The album itself features a solid 12 tracks, with some of the standouts being "Be the One," "IDGAF," and "Hotter than Hell alongside the already mentioned “New Rules." As for the genre, Dua Lipa is a pop sensation, so her genre is of course pop - however, pop can be complex and include many different kinds of sounds. That said, Dua’s unique take on the genre (at least on this album) blends a combination of different and diverse sounds from a variety of genres and sub-genres, including R&B, electropop, and dance-pop. In a nutshell, the whole album’s sound is characterized by the hypnotic combination of its contemporary production and of course Dua Lipa's distinctive vocals.

If she was only famous in the UK prior to 2020, then you can be damn sure that the whole world knew about her after 2020, which is why I mentioned at the beginning of this review that not that many knew who Dua Lipa was before 2020. And just like Dua’s first album, Future Nostalgia’s sound also blends several different sub-genres, all of which are somewhere in the spheres of pop, RnB, dance, and electro. Of course, it’s safe to say that pretty much all modern-day pop music is a blend of those aforementioned genres and sub-genres, however, in Dua’s case, her vocals, background and of course, her looks are what seal the deal for her fans.

She’s also won three separate Brit awards in 2018, specifically for the categories British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act, and British Single for the Year. But these are only her biggest awards, as Dua’s also won a plethora of other musical awards at high-profile award shows and ceremonies. In fact, if you look at her Wikipedia bio, you’ll be able to see that this young artist has been winning awards since 2016, and by now she’s easily got over 100 unique awards for her musical efforts. That being said, it wouldn’t be too farfetched to establish that Dua Lipa is one of the most accomplished music artists in the industry right now, and it’s hard to imagine her slowing down or stopping anytime soon. Plus, she isn’t even 30 yet, so she’ll definitely win herself at least another Grammy or two by the time she decides to officially retire.
