The Black Alley Review
● https://theblackalley.com/tour/the-black-alley/index.htmlBetween Models and Join Now sits a menu item reading Our Style. A photography site that gives its aesthetic a page of its own, at the same level as the roster and the checkout, is telling you what it thinks it is selling — the look rather than the acts — and that is unusual enough to be the reason to consider this one at all.
The lineage is stated in the same spirit. The site's own description says its photographers come from a named predecessor, which still has a menu item of its own, so the succession is presented as a credential rather than left for a visitor to work out. Whatever else that is, it is a claim about craft continuity that the operator is prepared to put in writing.
The presentation is otherwise dated in a way that is probably deliberate: a tour page, an update list, bracketed footer links, models given by first name. There is no counting of galleries, no update frequency and no price on the public pages, and no indication of how far back the archive runs. Terms, 2257 and a takedown route are all present.
- + A diverse selection of stunning Asian models from around the world
- + The site is home to some very high-quality photoshoots that are beautifully shot
- − The website’s overall theme is dated for the subscription fee it demands
- − There’s no gallery feature to see the sample content in better detail
