The sale countdown reads zero days, zero hours, zero minutes and zero seconds, and the seventy-five per cent offer beside it is still on. Whatever that timer was ever meant to do, it has finished doing it, and nobody has been back to reset it. Take it as the honest indicator of how much of the urgency on pages like this is real.

The scene titles, by contrast, are written by somebody enjoying themselves — puns on film titles, one-liners in the voice of the participants, a lightness the genre almost never allows itself. That editorial voice is the most distinctive thing here.
