Ask anyone who has bought a full-size doll and later regretted it, and the reason is almost never that it looked wrong. It is that they could not move it.
Weight is the specification this category buries, and it is the one that determines whether you own something you use or something you have to deal with. Material, and what a larger body does to the choice
The two options are TPE and silicone, and body size changes the trade-off between them.
TPE is softer, has more give, and produces the movement that most people are actually buying in this body type. It is cheaper per unit of volume, which matters when there is more volume. It is also porous, cannot be sterilised, tears more easily under stress, and needs more maintenance.
Silicone is firmer, non-porous, holds fine detail better and lasts longer. It is significantly more expensive, and on a large model that price gap becomes substantial rather than marginal.
There is one point specific to larger dolls: soft material over a large span puts more load on the internal structure. Ask about the skeleton. A better-specified frame with stronger joints matters more here than on a smaller model, and joint failure — a shoulder or hip that goes loose — is the most common structural complaint on heavier bodies. It is also the repair that is hardest to do yourself.

Storage is the second thing people get wrong
A full-size doll has to live somewhere, and the options are worse than they sound.

Hanging kits — suspending the doll from the head or neck mount so nothing bears its own weight — are the standard answer and require a fixing that can actually take the load. Flight cases exist and are the discreet option, and they are large, heavy and expensive.
Work out which of these you will use before ordering. This is the practical constraint that most often turns an expensive purchase into an inconvenience.
