Before anything else, a category check, because it is where these lists usually fall apart.
Nutaku is a storefront. It is an account, a catalogue, a wallet and a billing relationship, launched in January 2015 out of Montreal, running mostly free-to-play browser titles funded by microtransactions with a smaller number of paid downloads. Its catalogue exists partly because of a publishing arrangement struck with DMM in December 2014 to bring Japanese titles westward, and it now runs its own publishing arm that releases games on Steam as well as on its own site.
Kamihime Project R is a game. So are Booty Calls, Cunt Wars and the rest.
You cannot substitute a game for a storefront, and the reason this matters is not pedantry. Open Nutaku's catalogue and you will find Booty Calls, Kamihime Project R, King of Kinks and Project QT sitting in it, along with Cunt Wars under its other name, Chick Wars. Five of the ten titles ordinarily recommended as escapes from Nutaku are things you reach by going to Nutaku.
That is not a knock on the games. It is a knock on the list.
What people actually mean when they ask this
Strip out the confusion and the question usually turns out to be one of three, each with a different answer.
"I am tired of free-to-play energy timers and gacha pulls." This is the most common one, and it is a complaint about a monetisation model, not a website. Nutaku's catalogue is dominated by titles tagged Free, which in this genre means the game is designed around pacing you until you spend. Changing storefronts does nothing if you land on the same model. What you want is pay-once downloads.
"I want games this platform does not carry." A real question with a real answer, and the answer changed in 2025 — see below.
"I want something that is not a game at all." Also common, and worth separating out. Several titles on the usual list are not competing with Nutaku so much as sitting in a different medium entirely.
The 2025 change nobody updated their list for
Any recommendation of a mainstream storefront written before mid-2025 should be treated as out of date.
In July 2025 Valve added a clause to Steam's developer documentation barring content that may violate the rules and standards of its payment processors, card networks, banks or network providers. Adult titles began disappearing from the store shortly afterwards. On 28 July, itch.io removed NSFW-tagged works from its browse and search surfaces; reporting recorded the tag going from roughly 7,167 results to a handful within a day. DLsite's catalogue outside Japan was affected by processor decisions too. Both platforms pointed at payment processors as the cause, following a campaign directed at those processors rather than at the stores.
The structural lesson is worth more than the news. A general-purpose storefront carries adult games as a small share of its business, which makes that share the cheapest thing to drop when a card network raises an objection. An adult-native storefront cannot make that trade — the catalogue is the business. That is the actual argument for a platform like Nutaku, and it is a much better one than anything in its marketing.
It cuts the other way too: adult-native platforms have fewer processors willing to work with them, so their exposure is concentrated rather than absent.
The genuine alternatives, by what they actually are
[DLsite](/2808/dlsite) is the substantive answer to the monetisation complaint. It is a Japanese doujin storefront built on buying individual titles outright rather than grinding a free one — a different economic contract, and the closest thing to a real alternative on this page. Catalogue availability outside Japan has been affected by payment-processor decisions, so check what is actually purchasable in your region before assuming a title is available.
[itch.io](/5995/itch) remains where independent and experimental work lives, and its pricing is frequently pay-what-you-want. After the July 2025 deindexing, the caveat is discovery: adult work being on the platform and adult work being findable through the platform's own browse and search are now separate questions.
[F95zone](/2227/f95zone) is not a store at all. It is a community index — forums, threads, in-development projects, discussion of what is worth playing. If the thing you are missing from Nutaku is knowing what is good, this is a more direct fix than another catalogue.
[3DXChat](/1502/3dxchat) is a multiplayer social sandbox sold on subscription. Whether it belongs on this list depends entirely on whether you wanted a game or wanted other people; it is not competing with a single-player gacha title for the same evening.
[LifeSelector](/711/lifeselector) is filmed interactive video rather than a game engine — branching live-action scenes. It shows up on adult game lists constantly and it is a different medium with different production economics.
[Hentai Heroes](/1892/hentaiheroes) and [Pornstar Harem](/9027/pornstarharem) did not appear in the Nutaku catalogue view we read, so they may well be genuinely separate. Both are free-to-play in the same family, though, which means they answer the "different site" question and not the "different model" one.
How to check a recommendation yourself
Three questions, none of which requires trusting anyone's list.
- Is this a storefront or a game? If it is a game, ask where it is hosted before calling it an alternative to a platform.
- How is it paid for? Free with microtransactions and buy-it-once are different products. The tag on the catalogue page usually tells you outright.
- When was this written? Anything recommending mainstream storefronts for adult games without mentioning what happened in July 2025 has not been revisited since, and the landscape it describes no longer exists.
