Some people talk about having worked in adult film. They mention it in interviews, build channels around it, answer questions about it, and treat it as a fact of their biography like any other job. When someone does that, repeating it is not a revelation — you are quoting them.
Other people do not talk about it. They changed careers, changed names, and would rather the two halves of their life stayed separate. Repeating it about them is a different act entirely, whatever the tone.
Those two situations look identical in a list. That is the problem with the list, and it is why there is not one on this page.
The article that used to be here named nine people. It said outright of one that she had described the work as humiliating, and of another that she had denied it before being confronted with evidence, and then included both anyway — with the denial offered as a bit of colour. One name was linked directly to a search for her material. It was, in the plainest terms, a piece built to hand strangers something about people who had not offered it, and it presented that as trivia.
We could not verify any of it in any case. Stage names, dates, studios, career sequences — all stated without a source, about people whose lives have moved on by seven years since.
What the genre is for
Lists like that one exist because the search demand is enormous and the traffic is easy. That is the whole mechanism; there is no editorial reason underneath it.
They persist because the internet does not have a mechanism for a thing to stop being findable. Adult work is unusually exposed to this, because it produces a permanent, indexed, duplicated visual record under a name — and unlike most jobs, the record is the product, so it keeps circulating on its own commercial momentum long after the person has left. Someone who worked retail at nineteen does not have a searchable archive of it.
Then the advertising model applies its own pressure. Ad-supported platforms sell audience access to brands, brands make judgments about adjacency, and the result is that a person's past can become a live commercial variable years later, without anything new having happened. That is a structural feature rather than a moral verdict by anyone in particular, and it is worth naming as such, because it is usually experienced as a personal judgment.
Add audience behaviour on top — the comment sections, the resurfacing, the accounts that exist to remind people — and the ordinary outcome is that leaving the industry does not end the industry's involvement in your life.
The distinction that actually matters
There is nothing wrong with a person discussing their own history. Several people who moved between adult work and mainstream platforms have done exactly that, deliberately and on their own terms, and some have built genuinely useful work out of it. Consent is the entire distinction: who decided the information would be public, and when.
Curiosity about it is normal and not something to be ashamed of. What follows from the curiosity is the part that is a choice. If someone has spoken about their past, you can read what they said. If they have not, the absence is the answer, and there is no version of assembling it yourself that is not doing something to them.
That applies to us as well as to anyone else, which is the reason this page reads the way it does. Publishing the list would have been easy and would have performed well.
