Moderation is a position people apply for, acceptance arrives by email, and the news about who got it is the most prominent text on an adult GIF board.

The other thing to know before arriving is what surrounds it. The same navigation strip that reaches /gif/ also reaches /ck/, /his/, /lit/, /mu/, /sci/, /fit/, /diy/, /po/ and /pol/ — cooking, history, literature, music, science, fitness, do-it-yourself, papercraft, politics. The adult boards are a handful of entries in a general-purpose index, and nothing in the strip separates them out.
