One section of this archive is labelled private videos, and that word narrows the question considerably.

A public cam room has an audience of many, so a recording of one could have been made by any of them. A private show does not. It is a paid, one-to-one session — the performer's whole understanding of the transaction is that a single person is watching, and she is charging by the minute for exactly that exclusivity. A recording of a private show can only have been made by the one customer who bought it.

Curbate collects both, alongside a model index and popularity rankings that turn the whole thing into something browsable by performer.

So the private section is not a leak in any ambiguous sense. Each file represents a specific individual who paid for time alone with someone, recorded it, and then published it. The performer sold minutes; what was taken was a permanent copy.

An age gate stands at the entrance and the site is otherwise free.

Nothing here suggests any of the performers know these recordings exist, and there is no route by which most of them would find out.
